About Me

I am a nationally board certified, Master's level licensed mental health counselor associate (License #A15032). I graduated Summa Cum Laude from two separate masters programs at Liberty University: a Masters in Professional Counseling in 2017 and a Masters in Human Services Counseling with a Cognate in Marriage & Family in 2015.  My counseling experience includes working with men, women, couples, and adolescents struggling with grief and loss, ADHD/neurodivergence, trauma from childhood abuse or rape, substance abuse, difficult life transitions, anxiety, depression, chronic illness and chronic pain.

I became a counselor because I felt called to help others.  Like so many, I have struggled personally.  Life threw me some big curveballs, starting from an early age, including childhood abuse, living with an alcoholic parent, divorce, and being a part of a blended family. In my adult life, I was diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety, struggled with self-esteem issues, and dealt with several unhealthy dating relationships. In 2012 my husband Todd passed away suddenly, leaving me to raise our son.  I was a widow with a young child, and I needed help from someone I would not feel guilty about burdening over and over again. I needed a level of consistent support and information that family and friends couldn't provide.

My counselor first provided me with HELP, teaching me about resources we needed and providing much needed emotional support while I parented a grieving child.  Over time, I was able to process my grief and find HOPE.  With hope, regular feedback, and accountability, I began the process of HEALING and rebuilding our lives.

I had experienced HELP, HOPE, and HEALING earlier in my life with other counselors as well.  First in undergraduate college, and then again at different times through my 20's and 30's - counselors helped me heal, learn how to have healthy relationships, regulate my emotions, develop and maintain healthy boundaries, and build my self-esteem, along with so many other things.

It is my belief that good counselors help people who are willing to do the work move from desolate, painful places to a place where hope and healing are possible.  I am so grateful for the opportunity I have every day to  walk alongside my clients in their journey... to provide them with the HELP they need to foster the HOPE and HEALING they deserve.
